This should not be happening. During the summer of 2008 Haiti was hit by 4 tropical storms. 800,000 people were left homeless and without food. Even before the storms, Haiti, the poorest country in the western hemisphere, had already fallen victim to food riots as global commodity prices have skyrocketed. The aftermath of the 2008 hurricane season left 80% of rice crops destroyed and 50% of banana crops destroyed. Now 3,000,000 people now face starvation. Furthermore, all the areas to plant rice have been destroyed. If nothing is done this year Haiti faces a national famine. ![]() "When you've done it to the least of these, you done it unto me…" Matthew 25:40. No gift is too small. Donate whatever you feel the Lord has placed in your heart. Remember, just as Jesus fed the five thousand, you now have the chance to feed 3,000,000. Thank You, Carolyn Pankalla |
